Fantasy Zoo
Project Description
A game where you build your own zoo full of magical creatures and monsters!
Task Description
I was asked by the porject leader to join the team as a 2D-artist. So far my task has been to make new icons for the GUI. Drawing digitally is very familiar to me, but with this project it was important to make sure the files are the right resolution, as well as recognizable in smaller sizes. I have also re-designed the games UI-elements (like buttons etc.), so that the game has a more unique look compared to the free to used asset ones.
Problems and Solutions
At first I accidentally made all of the icons the same size, but luckily, they still looked good despite the little mistake. Next time I have to be more careful when reading given specs, as in other cases it could do more harm to the project than good. With UI, I needed to make some fixes to elements colouring and details to match the project leaders vision, which is always good practise in taking criticism and tweaking your work according to it. It was alos important to make them look good in any size, as you could resize them in the Unity engine. It was also interesting to see your work being on display at POcket Gamer Connects Helsinki!
