The Eternal Battle
Project Description
People from KoIO ry were looking for people that were interested in making some advertisement for a student event held in Kotka during November 2011. I joined the crew as the only artist, but the team also included a musician and some video editors. The biggest one of these advertisements was an animated video, but there also were some basic images used for sharing info on Instagram.
Task Description
As I mentioned, I was the main, and only artist for this project. I was supposed to do all of the artwork, but we settled on one background and the character art. I was given the task to design two characters, the angel and the devil. I got pretty much free hands with the design, but as it sometimes seems to happen, I only had time for some very simple design, but on retrospective, simpler characters probably made my whole process easier overall. We planned the story of the animated video together with the two video editors and I made some basic sketches for quidelines so it would be easier for me to draw the art, and for others to know if we are on the same page about everything.
The same sprites would be used in both videos and all of the other advertising made for the event. I made all of the sprites in a way that all of the body parts that I wanted to be able to be moved in video editing software were on different layers, so the workflow for the editors would be smooth as possible, as well I could save some time to make as beautiful sprites as possible.
