My Spotlight!

This game was made during the Finnish Game Jam 2024 event Kymenlaakso at the date of 26th-28th of January. This is also the first game jam event I've ever been to In my life.

The theme of the event was "Make me laugh". So with this in in mind, our game Is about two clowns competing with each other for the titular spotlight. The game was made with Unity Engine.

The point of this game Is to stay In the titular Spotlight to get points while also keeping the other player out of It. Only one player can get points from the spotlight.

This image shows our group during the event (I'm fvela012 here):

Funnily enough to me, this group had only one programmer, while the rest were artists.

I was In charge of making the trailer for the game.

I used Free Cam 8 to record clips of my gameplay, and HitFilm to make the trailer itself. And due to time being very limited, I had to make do with the incomplete version provided by our only programmer.

HitFilm allows users to choose the quality of the project. This allows for smoother transitions for example. I picked 30fps because that would make It easier to make the trailer on time, while also having some smoothness.

Here Is the result of my work (Fullscreen for better view):

(The thumbnail and end credits clip were provided by a fellow member of our team).

This trailer was not easy to make. Since this game has no player AI, I've had to play as both at the same time. I played at least two rounds to get enough footage to work on the trailer.

I believe I've managed to capture the chaotic elements of this game quite well.

As for some flaws in this trailer, I suppose the only major flaw Is the quality of the footage itself. The recording software Free Cam 8 Is free, but the footage that gets recorded with It tends to be noticeably poor with framerates.

You can simply find the game at this address: https://globalgamejam.org/games/2024/showtime-one-8

It takes to the Global Game Jam website, specifically to our groups game's page. It's where you can download the game from. Only works for PC unfortunately enough.

I learned from this event what It's like to be a part of a game development team. Since I was In charge of making the trailer, I had to spend quite a bit of time waiting for the game to be at least In a marketable shape.
