Project Description
The first version of this portfolio site was created as an final assignment for a course about making websites, on our first year. After that it was supposed to work as an actual portfolio and every project was supposed to be reported here. There was something off about the site and I felt more comfortable using different portfolio so this one wasn't filling up. At the end of my third year I decided to finally rework the site and add all my projects.
Creating the site
The website is designed and programmed by me and it's made from a scratch by using HTML and CSS.
Process
The first thing to do was to create the design for the site. I started out with brown/beige-ish color palette with turquoise accent color. There were these floating boxes in zig-zag, the portfolio was one page with each project as a tab and with smaller devices the navigation was in a hamburger menu. The requirements for the site included having at least three different pages so I had CV, projects, portfolio and contacts all in different pages.
The goal of the aggingment was to create a website that is also responsive and scales with every screen size. The responsiveness was tested with my phone and tablet, and different browsers. With a tablet there is still some zig-zag left in the floating boxes but with a phone they are all just under eachother.
I didn't actually like the original color palette so I ended up changing it to more on the minty side and turned the assignment in with that.
For the new and improved site I ended up blowing up the whole site and completely redesigned the layout. I still have floating boxes and the color palette is still on the green side but now all the different pages are in one place and instead of project tabs I have a page for each project. For now I have been reporting my projects in Finnish but as I'm going to start actually using this site, I will be changing the language into English so I had to translate everything from the other portfolio before putting this one up and running in the server.
